Charting is a rhetorical analysis strategy that uses the name of the author, a verb, idea, and an explanation of how the author uses the verb.
The author [VERB] [IDEA] by [EXPLAIN HOW].
This is a harder analysis strategy because it requires a great understanding of the text beforehand to use it effectively if the text is difficult to comprehend. Compared to SPACECAT, it is more limited because you need the text only in order to create your idea and explain it as well.
An example is:
Professor Bangali [proposes] that [there is more value in the process of writing as opposed to the final product] by [scheduling time in class for students to write independently, peer edits, one on one conferences, and finally, public reads of writing samples.]
